If you’re looking for fun, friendly and exciting horsebackriding just outside of London, in the Southwest, then look no further as the riding offered in Bushy Park by Park Lane Stables in Teddington is fantastic.
Offering riding lesson, hacks and more at reasonable prices, Park Lane Stables is a great place for riders of any age and also for children who want to learn more about how to take care of theirs and other horses. On an overcast Monday in August, I went on a “trial lesson” with the Stables for a very reasonable £15. After the stable took my height, weight and riding ability, they matched me with a lovely horse named Minnie and I went out with about another six riders for a trial lesson. We were walked through Bushy Park and, according to ability, were also allowed to do some trotting which was lots of fun. The instructor who took us out was calm, knowledgeable and also had a great sense of humour and we went to a calm field in Bushy Park that not only was very pretty but also had some interesting streams and gates, so the lesson or moreover horseback adventure was picturesque as well as fun. Happily, there was lots of fresh air and it was actually a bit better being overcast instead of being out in a really strong sun.
The young people who were leading the horses that the riders were on were also very nice, polite and knowledgeable, so the whole experience went smoothly with the joys of being in a beautiful park with laughter, fun riding and well looked after horses. Again, this is a highly recommended experience and happily the stables also do other events – whether they be hacks/rides to raise money for charity, riding lessons, pony club where members of the club can learn about “horsemanship” and much more. If you have the time, the money and the inclination than go for it!
